Assilah is definetly one of our favorite places – sadly it got quite popular and is not that secret anymore but still worth a visit. Half an hour south from Tanger is the small village located directly next to the ocean. It is a popular vacation direction for the moroccan population, which makes it a real moroccan experience.
The whole city is painted mostly in white with a bit blue. Artist from all over the world came here to paint the walls and decorated everything with there own cultural touch. Since now 40 years they host an International Culture Festival between July and August (we will publish the date for 2020 as soon possible).
All in all there are’nt a lot of sight seeing spots – it is already beautiful enough to just walk around the medina, enjoy the art and the beach. And if your timing is good enjoy the stunning festival.
